Island Day Trips in Miami Beach
Day trips from Miami to Bimini, the Bahamas, and Key West.
Miami’s location makes it one of the few US cities where you can be on a Bahamian beach or in Key West by lunchtime. The Balearia fast ferry runs from Port Everglades (about 30 minutes north of Miami) to Bimini in roughly two hours — quick enough for a real same-day round trip with beach time, snorkeling, and duty-free shopping. Key West is a three-hour drive or a short puddle-jumper flight; most day-trip packages include transportation, a guided walking tour of Old Town, and free time to explore Mallory Square, Duval Street, and the Southernmost Point.
Passports are required for Bimini and the Bahamas excursions; Key West only needs a US ID. Island trips are a great second-day activity after a day on the water — pair one with a Miami boat rental or a Biscayne Bay cruise for a complete Miami experience.
